Hey fancy friends!
Last weekend I headed to Key West for our #TripleSmash best-friends annual trip (no new news for those that follow me on my social media platforms @afancyaffair). Yearly, my best friends and I pack up our cutest & trendiest clothes and travel usually to a tropical destination, either with our significant others or make it an all girls trip. This time we went with our hubbies and of course, I took Penelope. We need at least one of these trips a year. Our lives are so busy that a weekend to relax, spend QT, recharge and catch up is always a MUST.
The three of us have been in each other’s lives since high school and no matter where home is for us or where life has taken us, our annual trip is the first thing we jot down on our calendars. We look forward to the trip all year long and once the trip is coming to an end, we always wish it was a tad longer. This year the destination was Key West. It was the same location as two years ago, but it’s always a new experience and really the only place you can kick back, relax, and go dancing wearing flip flops and it’s totally acceptable. For those that don’t know, Key West mile marker 0 is only 3.5 hours away from Miami. So we packed up the car that Friday evening and took off! We made a quick detour at Cracker Barrel and ate breakfast for dinner, which is totally ok with me, since breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I love their homemade warm syrup over french toast. Yes, I started my trip already eating bad, but I’m the type that would rather eat everything in sight and work out my happy little butt at the gym after.
Michael and I love road trips, (Just kidding! I do, he’s not that into it.) so comfort not only is key, but a MUST if I don’t want to hear complaints the entire 3.5 hours… lol! And of course we brought little #FancyP. A trip wouldn’t be a succesful trip without her. She was loving every second of it! Being in a car for a few hours requires a good playlist, yummy snacks & candy, comfy clothes, lots of leg space and obviously a sunroof to see shooting stars. So renting out the new Toyota Corolla was the perfect fit for this trip! My favorite feature in our car was the touch screen panel which made it so easy to pair up my phone and swap music quickly. I also loved that it was great on gas. We filled up our the tank once with only $28 dollars. Amazing huh?
We stayed at this really cute hotel, did a whole lot of nothing, but hangout by the pool and relax! Everyone headed back home after brunch on Sunday and Michael and I stayed back to enjoy a little more of this gorgeous and fun island. And of course we couldn’t go back till we had some Sloppy Joe’s and an original key lime pie. Oh, what a great way to end our trip!
