Hey fancy friends!
Last weekend I headed to Key West for our #TripleSmash best-friends annual trip (no new news for those that follow me on my social media platforms @afancyaffair). Yearly, my best friends and I pack up our cutest & trendiest clothes and travel usually to a tropical destination, either with our significant others or make it an all girls trip. This time we went with our hubbies and of course, I took Penelope. We need at least one of these trips a year. Our lives are so busy that a weekend to relax, spend QT, recharge and catch up is always a MUST.
The three of us have been in each other’s lives since high school and no matter where home is for us or where life has taken us, our annual trip is the first thing we jot down on our calendars. We look forward to the trip all year long and once the trip is coming to an end, we always wish it was a tad longer. This year the destination was Key West. It was the same location as two years ago, but it’s always a new experience and really the only place you can kick back, relax, and go dancing wearing flip flops and it’s totally acceptable. For those that don’t know, Key West mile marker 0 is only 3.5 hours away from Miami. So we packed up the car that Friday evening and took off! We made a quick detour at Cracker Barrel and ate breakfast for dinner, which is totally ok with me, since breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I love their homemade warm syrup over french toast. Yes, I started my trip already eating bad, but I’m the type that would rather eat everything in sight and work out my happy little butt at the gym after.
Michael and I love road trips, (Just kidding! I do, he’s not that into it.) so comfort not only is key, but a MUST if I don’t want to hear complaints the entire 3.5 hours… lol! And of course we brought little #FancyP. A trip wouldn’t be a succesful trip without her. She was loving every second of it! Being in a car for a few hours requires a good playlist, yummy snacks & candy, comfy clothes, lots of leg space and obviously a sunroof to see shooting stars. So renting out the new Toyota Corolla was the perfect fit for this trip! My favorite feature in our car was the touch screen panel which made it so easy to pair up my phone and swap music quickly. I also loved that it was great on gas. We filled up our the tank once with only $28 dollars. Amazing huh?
We stayed at this really cute hotel, did a whole lot of nothing, but hangout by the pool and relax! Everyone headed back home after brunch on Sunday and Michael and I stayed back to enjoy a little more of this gorgeous and fun island. And of course we couldn’t go back till we had some Sloppy Joe’s and an original key lime pie. Oh, what a great way to end our trip!
I always joke about wanting to be a mermaid, but I’m kinda serious! I’m a tropical girl and always dreaming of tropical getaways, warmer weather, sunny days, sandy toes, salty hair & crave the smell of the ocean. I’m not too fond of the open ocean so I’m convinced I wouldn’t be a great mermaid, but a girl can dream right? Even though I love the ocean I also have so much respect for it. I love watching it from the boat, fishing is my jam and running my hands through the water while the boat drives away is my fave. Here’s a fun fact about me! My biggest fear is to get pinched by a crab… I’m dead serious, I hate those crawly little guys. I can spot those little suckers from miles away and when I do, it’s over! I become totally paranoid.
Now, let’s chat about this cute outfit! I’ve been dying to get my hands on a cute denim skirt. I find them so cute and fun for summer. However, I also haven’t worn anything that low cut in a long time so when I tried these on, I was little hesitant. I’m not a fan of showing my bellybutton, however, because I’m so tall, it’s kind of hard to hide. So anything high waist is usually a go for me. This skirt is totally the opposite, it reminds me of my high school days when I used to wear a ton of Brazilian cut jeans. They were the teeny weeny low cut jeans. Those were put to rest a long time ago and I wasn’t mad about it. This skirt, although low cut, is pretty versatile. I’ve worn it with tees and sneakers, with a lace top and wedges and the last with this Maggie Ivory strappy crop top I picked up at Tobi, which is also available in red, black and sage. By the way, if you haven’t shopped this website, you’re missing out on the cutest things! They have such cute curated collections of summer must haves, latest trends, and basics at such good prices. I’ve scored the cutest things on here and have a cart full.
How fun is dressing up for this season? I love all the vibrant colors, fun accessories like this cute straw bag and tassel earrings. Most of the looks/outfits I have been wearing lately are from my boutique- Fancy Boutique. I love to pick out items for clients and style each look according to their personally and I’m not going to lie sometimes they tell me they feel silly. We all have our individual style and that’s ok. I believe that getting dressed is the way you express your creative side to others. My favorite part about having the boutique has to be the styling part, putting each outfit together according to the occasion. That’s when my creative juice starts going and I feel fulfilled. The difference between my spring wardrobe last year to this year is HUGE! (Quick side note, I can’t say the word “huge” without thinking of Jimmy Fallon impersonating Donald Trump. Anyone else?)lol… Now back to my look. Last spring, I was all about the pastels, nudes, pinks and everything super light and airy. This year on the other hand, is all about bold colors & print for me. Anything and everything bright is coming home with me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not all I want to wear, but it’s definitely something I’m reaching for a lot more this time of year versus last year. I’m also digging a lot of stripes, floral prints (like this jumpsuit), denim on denim, white, blush and embroidered things (like this dress), but for example, this look would have never been worn until a few weeks prior to summer. I guess I’m in a happy, bubbly and bright place in my life at this moment. Another spring MUST HAVE are these gorgeous wedges. They are so comfortable and the platform height is just right! I got these last year, wore them a ton, and I couldn’t wait to take them out for a spin this year. I have literally worn them at least 6 times already.
Last night Michael and I decided to have an impromptu date night. We left Fancy P at home and went out. To our surprise, the evening was so beautiful, with just the right amount of sun peeking through, that Michael decided to pull out the camera and “shoot a few pics”. Oh boy, I should have known that a few photos would totally turn out to be a full on blog photoshoot. Thankfully, I was dressed cute and wearing something I wanted to share with you guys eventually. Isn’t this strapless wide leg jumpsuit just perfect for Spring? I’m obsessed. I picked this out to sell at my boutique (Fancy Boutique) and couldn’t not get one for me. These are the perks of owning your own boutique. I always get dibs. Ha ha… I’m also so obsessed with tassel earrings, I want to wear them with everything. They are the perfect spring accessory that every trendy gal should have. What trends are you digging this season? I recently picked out this cute Henri Bendel Rivington Mini Convertible Tote that is the perfect size to fit your entire world, but small enough to be a handbag.
Now for my dear friends that always say they have a hard time shopping for chic, inexpensive and timeless accessories. Are you ready to have your mind blown and life changed forever?! Here you go, 3 words for ya, The Peach Box! They have the prettiest collection of Marc Bale watches and the sexiest collection of earrings, bangles, necklaces to match each vibe you’re going for. I’m sure you are all so tired of seeing me wearing my rose gold mesh watch, which led to me wanting to pick up a silver one, as I don’t have many silver pieces anymore and definitely noticed that I needed it. I picked up this oh so sleeksilver mesh watchand this slim and timeless knot bangle. If you’re in the market to spruce things up in your arm party and want to pick up a few timeless pieces that can be worn daily this spring, check them out and use code “AFancyAffair” at checkout to get 15% off your purchase.
I’m obsessed with the embroidered trend! This trend is so cool and seen on everything!! From bags to denims, hats, dresses, jackets, shoes, chokers and more. They can be subtle or embellished galore, suitable to everyone’s likes and tastes. Embroidery adds a little something extra. Have a favorite go to item in your closet and wish it had a bit of embroiredery? Be artsy and purchase the iron-on patches that look like the real deal as if they were stitched on directly. I added some to a plain tee and I love the way it looks. Maybe I should share a DIY and show you how I did mine. Would you like to see that? If so, leave it on the comments below so I can work on that. Another trend and a staple in my closet for the next two seasons are espadrilles. I love them! I look forward to spring and summer to dust these guys off and take them out for a spin. This year I was looking for a simple, sleek and chic pair and found the Champ Platform Espadrille Sneakers by Andre Assous. They are soooooo comfortable and the leather is so soft. You’ve probably already seen them on my IG feed since I have been wearing them non-stop. So it was a must to come here and share a look with them. If you want to jump on the espadrilles trend, I’ve partnered up with Andre Assous to give you the opportunity to win a pair ofAndre Assous shoes of choice, enter HERE. The sweepstakes will run through the end of the month and Andre Assous will pick winners on April 1st weekend. I’m also coveting this pair and they are next on my wish list. Read More…
I’d like to think that it’s winter wonderland in Miami, but we all know that it’s very far from that here. Only in Miami you could wear dresses and booties for a coffee date during January. And, I must confess I was a little hot wearing these booties, but it’s all for the love of fashion, plus if I don’t wear these cuties out now, chances are they will collect dust in my closet till next year! How cute are these velvet beauties? They are so comfy and adds the right pop of color to my look. They also come in other colors and I’m swooning over the blush ones. What are you guys digging this time of year? Whats your go-to look lately? Read More…
Who knew that I would like these metallic pleated skirts as much as I do! Like is really an understatement, I’m in LOVE. They are so fun, flirty, and super versatile. Really!! They can be paired with tennis shoes for a more casual look, booties for an edgier occasion and high heels for a fun night out. One skirt, three total different looks, vibes and occasions. I also picked up one in gold and I can’t wait to share it with you guys. Michael and I were on our way to a Friendsgiving dinner and I thought this look was perfect for a day with friends.
My favorite part about this look is definitely the finishing touches- I love how my Tous Icon Mesh jewelry added the right amount of glam. Such a magical collection and it has me feeling all kinds of ways. It’s so pretty, feminine chic, timeless and delicate. It’s also so dainty and reminds me of my childhood jewelry. Just obsessed! Can you tell? Did you notice how the zipper details on the bag are similar to the bracelets?? I’m all about the small details and the bag just tied the entire look together.
